NEW, REFRESHING, FUNKY, CREATIVE SMOOTH/CONTEMPORARY JAZZ

The great format of smooth jazz is an oasis on the radio dial for many. Where else can you hear instrumental music that packs so many great elements: jazz, soul, funk, r&b, pop, world beats. It is a truly unique genre that has caught the eyes, ears, and hearts of many music enthusiasts. The folks here at Nuance share this sentiment and look to bring forth a new generation of artists to aid in the natural evolution and continuation of this great art form.

This great style was formed by brave and creative souls who took risks in incorporating other genres into a jazz context. Taking a song structure from a pop tune, creating the same energy and sounds of an r&b tune, or remaking a non-jazz tune into something truly instrumental. The end result has always been something undeniably catchy to such a wide and diverse crowd. It is truly a unique and successful art form.

In the year 2006, some twenty-thirty five years later, there are many new faces looking to take the same step forward. There are many younger instrumentalists looking to define the next generation of smooth/contemporary jazz. Nuance Music Group looks to be the voice of these artists. In order for any art form to continue, eventually new faces must emerge to carry the tradition. Our goal is to make the opportunities available for such talented artists.

Refreshing sounds, taking chances on new production, addressing the whole "smoooooth," connotation, standing up for true artistry over format regulations, and ultimately capturing a new wave of younger listeners are the key components of our mission.
